Paramount Airways, the Chennai based business class airlines is planning to focus its business towards tier II & III cities – Pondicherry, Bellary, Mysore, Salem etc.,. It plans to acquire Airbus, Embraer for overseas routes and turboprops for tier II & III cities. Airbus will be inducted by October 2010. The company had been toying with an idea of venturing into hospitality sector and as of now no decision had been taken now. Its current market share is at around 2% and it plans to increase it to 10% by next year.

Paramount Airways, market leader in southern destinations is planning to introduce new routes in Eastern India. It plans to start direct flights to Kolkatta from southern cities and may use Kolkatta as a hub to fly north eastern destinations. It is looking at opportunities to introduce flights to new airports like Durgapur, Cooch Behar, and north eastern airports like Silchar, Dibrugarh and also Varanasi. The airlines will be adding three Embraer 170/190 family by March 2009 and three more by year end and 9 by 2010. It also plans to Airbus/Boeing aircrafts next year to launch international operations in West Asia by 2011. Embraer aircraft would cost approx. $55-60 million and Airbus/Boeing in the range of US$200 million and above.
